A Suffolk weekender!

For most supporters of sides in the Bostik Premier Division, a visit to Leiston is filled with regret. Drive for hours, glimpse the beautiful Suffolk countryside from the car, watch your team struggle to contain Matt ‘Steak Bake’ Blake, complain that you haven’t got time to see the coast or sample the wonderful local fish and chips, then drive home arriving just about early enough to watch the Football League show on Channel 5.

Well the fine folk of Leiston FC feel your pain, and they’ve decided to help. No, your request to sell Blake to Ipswich Town hasn’t been heeded, but they have arranged a hotel/football/hospitality/dinner and- if you want it-golf package which will allow you to transform your usual day trip into a wonderful weekend away. Peter Douglass, the club’s General Manager, takes up the story:

‘We live in a beautiful area that relies heavily on tourism and hospitality, but we saw a gap in the market. The majority of events and activities are aimed at summer visitors. As a winter sport, Leiston FC wanted to offer something for all the family in those months when family entertainment can be limited. In the first instance the opportunity is being offered to visiting clubs and their supporters, but perhaps this will be the start of even bigger things to come and an increased fan base for Leiston FC.’
The package put together by the club includes a 2 night stay at Ufford Park Hotel and Spa, breakfast, dinner on one night, a round of golf at the resort’s award-winning 71 par course, admission to Leiston FC’s ground at Victory Road- plus a programme, access to the boardroom, half time hospitality and a meal after the game. For golfers - both packages offer the option of a round of golf on the 18 hole award winning par 71 course at a discounted members guest rate ranging from £16-23 per person (subject to availability)

The Spa and Spa Treatments are also available at additional cost. Guests are strongly advised to book a time slot at least 6 weeks in advance of their stay to avoid disappointment. The type of treatment can be decided upon nearer the time.
