Alzapiedi won't rush to replace Newing

Former Enfield Town manager Steve Newing has left the Ryman League to join Boreham Wood.

Newing had been working as a coach with new Cheshunt manager Glen Alzapiedi at Theobalds Lane but left this week to take on the U21s at the Conference South side's Meadow Park.

Alzapiedi, who took over at the Ryman North club in September as the successor to Omer Riza, won't be rushed into replacing Newing who left the Towners in November 2013, only a few months after winning promotion to the Ryman's top flight after a poor run of results.

Alzapiedi insisted on Friday: "I will wait until someone right comes along."
