Angels fans show their faith

Striker heads to Longmead- after supporters put up the cash

With fourteen points from the last eighteen, early-season pacesetters Tonbridge Angels are only two points away from fifth place with matches in hand over most of their rivals- and yesterday supporters at Longmead demonstrated their faith in Steve McKimm’s side by funding the signing of a new striker. Former Leatherhead and Kingstonian favourite Tom Derry comes in from National League South side East Thurrock United until the end of the season, and may well make his debut at Wingate and Finchley this evening.

Speaking to the club website, manager McKimm was sincere in his gratitude. “It really does show what a terrific club we have here when ordinary supporters can put their hands in their pockets to this extent. In return we are getting a proven striker and if proof were needed many will remember his goal against us in the final game of last season here when he was playing for Leatherhead.”

Victory at Summers Lane could take Angels as high as fourth place.
