Bartlett bags moving target

Wealdstone

Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett has beaten off stiff competition to bring Conference North hot-shot Jonny Wright into the Ryman League.

Hailed as the 'complete centre forward' at Workington where he'd spent six years, the 27-year-old, pictured, was available after moving to London. He was attracting interest from a number of Conference clubs including Bishop's Stortford after quitting the Reds in August to move to the capital for business and family reasons.

Wright was appointed Reds skipper at the start of the campaign and Stones manager Bartlett moved quickly to sign him on Ryman forms after the striker watched their 6-1 win over Kings Langley in the FA Cup's First Qualifying Round. Wright was a big favourite with Workington fans after scoring 73 times in 257 games since joining the Cumbrian club in 2004.

* Young striker Reece Grant has been loaned out to Southern League Divison One Central outfit Northwood to boost his development with the promise of more match time.
