Billericay go top as Bank Holiday Monday goes goal-mad!

By Ian Townsend

Bank Holiday Monday in the Bostik Premier saw forty goals and four red cards. Here's how it happened.

There were goals galore in the Premier Division this afternoon, as Harrow Borough lost their top spot- and their 100% record- to a thrashing at Hendon, whilst Billericay Town leapfrogged them as pacesetters whilst doling out their own hammering at Thurrock.
Here’s how the afternoon progressed:

Matt Ball edges Hendon into an early lead at home to previously undefeated league leaders Harrow Borough.

Adam Cunnington scores his fourth goal in three days at Thurrock, as Billericay Town go ahead.

Burgess Hill Town take the lead against Worthing with a goal from Tony Garrod

Tooting & Mitcham take the lead at Champion Hill, Billy Dunn with a penalty, whilst at Hendon the Greens go two up, Niko Muir the scorer.

Hill double their lead, Guy Bolton the scorer.

Ben Pope pulls a goal back for Worthing, who now trail 2-1 at the Green Elephants Stadium

Sean Cronin puts Wingate and Finchley ahead at previously unbeaten Staines Town, whilst at Thurrock Jake Robinson doubles the Billericay Town lead.

A James Shepherd own goal gives Enfield Town the advantage against Harrow Borough

The bookmakers begin to scratch their heads as Harrow Borough’s 100% record looks to be well and truly consigned to history, Niko Muir with his second to put Hendon 3-0 up.

Former Kingstonian midfielder Joe Turner puts his new club, Tonbridge Angels, 1-0 ahead at home to Folkestone Invicta

It’s that man Jake Robinson again, scoring his second of the day as Billericay go three up.

Invicta equalise at Tonbridge, Adam Yussuff with a penalty.

Perhaps Invicta relaxed after their equaliser? Nathan Elder pounces and Angels are 2-1 ahead.

Brightlingsea Regent, celebrating manager James Webster’s 400th match in charge, go ahead at Needham Market through George Doyle.

That man Muir does it again- a hat trick now as Hendon score their fourth! And at Needham Market, Regent double their lead, Aaron Condon making it 0-2.

Ryan Hall fires home a penalty at Moatside, as Merstham take the lead against Kingstonian

Leatherhead go down to ten men, as Sean Clohessy is sent off!

Leiston take the lead at Lowestoft Town, Robert Eagle with the goal

Wingate & Finchley double their advantage at Staines, Spencer McCall the scorer.

Billericay go 4-0 up at Thurrock, Adam Cunnington with his second.

Leiston double their advantage at Lowestoft, through Joe Marsden.

Not sure what’s happening at Fetcham Grove- no goals, but now two players sent off as Lewis Puttman for Met Police follows Sean Clohessy down the tunnel! Whilst Folkestone Invicta draw level, Scott Heard the scorer.

And now Angels are behind! Joshua Vincent puts Invicta 3-2 up! Whilst at Champion Hill the South London derby is level once more, Hamlet equalising through Kenny Beaney.

Burgess Hill extend their lead against Worthing, away manager Gary Elphick putting the ball into his own net.

Kingstonian equalise at Merstham- Tom Derry the scorer.

And now the K’s take the lead, through Lewis Taylor!

Billericay Town score again- this time it’s Billy Bricknell, making it 0-5

Hendon decide that anything Billericay can do they can imitate, Zak Joseph firing home their fifth. Margate announce the second largest crowd of the day, 630 watching their match with Dorking Wanderers- which is still 0-0, by the way!

It isn’t nil-nil anymore! Margate take the lead through Jordan Chiedozie! And up at Silver Jubilee Park Hendon- or Hendno, as they are known on twitter and at Sky Sports, score again- this time through Keagan Cole- to make it six!

Brightlingsea Regent goalscorer George Doyle blots his copybook, receiving a red card at Needham Market.

The ten men Tanners take the lead against the ten men Met Police, with a goal from Luke Kandi

Dulwich Hamlet’s pink army roar with delight as Kenny Beaney doubles his tally to put his side 2-1 up!

It’s 10 v 10 now, as Needham Market lose Dan Morphew to a red card. Still 2-0 to Brightlingsea Regent though.

Worthing’s poor start to the season is going from bad to worse- Lee Harding makes it 4-1 to Burgess Hill Town.

It’s surely game over at Wheatsheaf Park, as Wingate & Finchley add goal number three, through Afolabi Obefemi. At Champion Hill the bean counters have finally finished their maths, and announce that Dulwich Hamlet v Tooting & Mitcham Utd is being watched by 1,866!

If it wasn’t all over it is now- Luke Ifil makes it 4-0 to Wingate & Finchley.

The first result of the day is in, and it leaves Worthing rooted to the foot of the table as they fall 4-1 at Burgess Hill Town.

Wingate & Finchley score another- Sean Cronin makes it 5. Whilst Kingstonian confirm a much- needed victory, 2-1 at Merstham, whilst Leiston win their particular Suffolk derby 2-0 at Lowestoft.

And the final whistle goes at Hendon, where the Greens demolish Harrow Borough’s 100% record with a six-nil victory. They’re still playing at Needham Market, where Billy Hunt makes it a night to remember for Brightlingsea Regent, making it 3-0. Enfield Town have beaten Harlow Town 1-0.

Margate confirm a 1-0 victory over Dorking Wanderers, whilst the referee stops the agony at Staines Town, Wingate & Finchley confirmed as 5-0 victors. Leatherhead have beaten Metropolitan Police 1-0.

Tonbridge Angels have managed to turn victory into defeat at home to Folkestone Invicta, who came from behind to win 3-2, whilst it’s power to the Hamlet people as Dulwich record a 2-1 victory over Tooting. James Webster ends his 400th match in charge of Brightlingsea regent in usual fashion, with a 3-0 victory at Needham Market.

Billericay Town are confirmed as the new leaders of the Premier Division, with a 5-0 victory at Thurrock. Leatherhead have moved up to second, Leiston are fourth (and the only side still undefeated), with Hendon 5th after their incredible six-nil victory over third place- and former leaders- Harrow Borough. Wingate & Finchley climb to sixth. At the other end, Worthing remain the only side yet to pick up a point.
