Billericay hit a century

Blues hit their 100th goal of the season- on 5th December. And then their 101st...

When Adam Cunnington put the ball into the back of the Merstham net as last night's Bostik Premier Division match approached half time, he wasn't only bringing his side level- he was creating a milestone. This was not only his eighteenth of the campaign so far, but the Blues one hundredth goal in all competitions.

Including the Essex Senior Cup, Billericay Town had finished Saturday's 4-0 victory over Leiston on 99 senior goals- obviously excluding those scored in a recent penalty shootout. Cunnington's strike brought up the century, and later he brought the total to 101 with yet another equaliser- and that's how the match finished, as the home side failed in their bid to overhaul Dulwich Hamlet at the top of the table, but closed the gap to two points with four games in hand.

The Billericay 101 comprises 46 in the League, 25 in the FA Cup, 11 in the FA Trophy, 10 in the Essex Senior Cup and 9 in the Velocity Trophy. Jake Robinson leads the way with 29, whilst Cunnington's brace puts him in second place in the AGP Arena charts with 19. Billy Bricknell is third with seventeen, and Louie Theophanous fourth with 9.

With the season not even half over, can the Blues chase down a double century? Stay tuned to the Bostik League to find out!
