Bostik Premier goes goal crazy- and the other Divisions aren't far behind

By Ian Townsend

Angels, Swans and Green Lions hit five, Market get 4- and lose, whilst Cray score SEVEN! It's a Saturday Round Up.

BBC Sport are running a little experiment at the moment, challenging one of their reporters to go to a match, eat, drink, and buy some merchandise for no more than thirty five pounds. Well we'd like to challenge him to come and watch a game in our League, as he could probably bring a friend too for that kind of money- but it's unfortunate that he didn't make the trip yesterday as we'd have given him goals galore; an average of just under five goals a game in our Premier Division!

Longmead takes the honours, and what a match that was, as Tonbridge Angels moved up to tenth place with a last gasp winner and the NINTH goal of the game! Joe Turner had put Angels ahead in the ninth minute from the spot only for Needham Market to equalise through Diaz Wright, and the Marketmen followed that by going ahead in the 31st minute, although Angels had levelled by half time through Nathan Elder. Alex Akrofi and then Elder again looked to have made the game safe for the home side, but Market roared back once more, Dan Morphew and Jamie Griffiths with the goals. And then came that last minute winner, breaking Market hearts and leaving them in twenty second place and undoubtedly wondering how they could score four goals and come away with nothing.

Staines Town moved up to fifth place, walloping four first half goals at the Specsavers Stadium as they defeated Merstham by five goals to one. Uniquely, six different players were on the scoresheet- Lewis Driver, Mohamed Bettamer, Bayley Brown, Tommy Brewer and Elliot Buchanan for the Swans, Stephen Hamilton-Forbes for the Moatsiders- and two of them, Bettamer and Hamilton-Forbes, were later sent off as both sides finished with ten men.

Billericay Town got back to winning ways, Sanchez Watt, Jake Robinson, Adam Cunnington and Louie Theophanous getting on the scoresheet as they went to Harlow Town and came away with a 4-2 victory, and in the battle of second versus first the winner was quickly apparent, Dulwich Hamlet undoing Metropolitan Police's recent excellent record in some style as they smashed four goals in the first half through Reise Allassani (2), Mark Weatherstone and Anthony Acheampong, with Zack Newton replying in the second half for the boys in blue.

Harrow Borough and Dorking Wanderers shared seven goals, with Wanderers going three-nil up at Earlsmead before the home side brought it back to 3-3, only to lose as Chris Boulter got Dorking back on track and sent them home with three points.

Hendon and Burgess Hill Town saved nearly all of their excitement for the last couple of minutes and Silver Jubilee Park. The Greens (actually, they are both Greens, so the home Greens) went ahead through Dave Diedhiou in the 45th minute, and that's how it stayed until a minute before the end, when Aaron Smith-Joseph bundled home the equaliser before Lee Harding (according to the Hillians twitter feed, other outlets say it was Pat Harding) scored what perhaps should have been the winner. But the points didn't head back to Sussex after all- Zak Joseph charged up the other end and curled a twenty yard free kick home to grab a point.

Folkestone Invicta continued their impressive run, travelling to Brightlingsea Regent and breaking home hearts with a last minute winner through Adam Yusuff, whilst Kentish neighbours Margate also won on the road, beating a nine-man Lowestoft Town 2-0. In the other matches, Tooting and Mitcham defeated Kingstonian by the odd goal in five, whilst Enfield Town defeated Thurrock 3-1, with two goals from Simon Thomas.

The North Division match of the day was hosted by Heybridge Swifts, finally getting to play a league game after their cup heroics, with leaders Dereham Town the visitors. All of the goals came in the first half, and in this battle of the birds it was the Magpies who came out on top, Jamie Forshaw and Toby Hilliard scoring their goals in a 2-1 victory.

AFC Hornchurch moved up to second place, and you can read all about that here- whilst Canvey Island and Haringey Borough, in third and fourth place, both lost. Canvey went down by a single goal at in-form Barking, whilst Haringey gave up the League's last unbeaten record, shipping two goals without reply at Brentwood Town. Potters Bar Town bounced back from their FA Trophy defeat against Hereford to wallop four goals past Norwich United, Maldon & Tiptree moved up to seventh with a three-one victory at Soham Town Rangers, whilst Witham Town came from behind to defeat Cheshunt 3-2.

The South Division entertainers were Cray Wanderers, who travelled to East Grinstead and scored seven goals to embarrass their hosts. Wanderers are in fourth place, but there was movement at the top of the table. Corinthian Casuals continued with the good luck brought by the Bostik Friday Interview -not that we can take all of the credit, but nobody has lost immediately after being featured (!!)- beating Ashford United by three goals to nil, whilst previous leaders Lewes were held to a 2-2 draw at the Dripping Pan, and had to work hard to get that, Thamesmead Town going in two-nil up at half time before Jonte Smith got to work.

Guernsey continued their climb up the table, a Ross Allen hat trick helping them to a five-two win over Shoreham, whilst perhaps the surprise result of the day came at the DGS Marine Stadium, as Horsham defeated Greenwich Borough 2-0 with goals from Joe Shelley and Scott Harris. Carshalton Athletic hit four without replay at Hythe Town, and Omar Koroma- making his debut- got all of them, surely placing himself in a very strong position to win November's Performance of the Month Award!

Ramsgate also got four, defeating Whyteleafe and their two new managers 4-1, whilst Sittingbourne suffered a surprise home defeat, falling 3-0 to South Park as the Sparks bounced back in style from their midweek thrashing by Corinthian Casuals.

There is a match in the Premier Division today, cup heroes Leatherhead hosting Wingate & Finchley at Fetcham Grove.
