Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Harlow Town

Ross of Harlow Town makes friends with Tooting- and gives a bitingly honest view of the forthcoming campaign.

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Ross Arnold is a Hawk of the Harlow variety, who isn’t all too optimistic about the new campaign.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Ross- with his glass entirely full!

Ross- with his glass entirely full!

A strange one, but standing with the Tooting and Mitcham supporters (we were already safe) because we wanted them to stay up over Burgess Hill. Sadly for them we won 1-0 but I think we made a lot of friends that day, which is rare for us!

2. And your worst moment?

Plenty to choose from, but I'll go with getting battered by Needham Market 5-1 on a cold Tuesday night. All the locals were keen to point out that they had 1000 first team players out and were effectively playing with kids. Cheers fellas.

3. How will you do this season?

I hate to say it, but I can't see beyond relegation. We only stayed up last year due to an influx of loan players so we may need something similar again. Losing Jared Small and Alex Read to the Angels certainly hasn't helped.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I always enjoy going to new grounds, so looking forward to the likes of Whitehawk and Lewes. The local derby games against Stortford have already been marked out on the calendar too.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Of the current league I'll plump for Bognor, more for the atmosphere and numbers we took there two seasons back. Always had a soft spot for Merstham too.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Old school supporters will say Stortford, but we haven't played them in about 20 years so plenty wouldn't have seen us play them.
There was an unsavoury incident at Enfield a couple of years back so plenty of bad blood there.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Come and join us in the terrace, it makes for a much better atmosphere and make sure you buy a programme, a certain supporter has a cracking column in there...

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Several honourable mentions including Alex Read, Layne Eadie and Junior Dadson, but I'll have to go with Craig Pope. Always battled on the pitch (and sometimes off it) and just always seemed to actually give a damn about the club. If he had any pace he would have played higher because he was a good footballer too.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Tonbridge Angels, Kingstonian, Enfield Town, Bognor Regis Town, Dorking Wanderers.

Where next?
