Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Haywards Heath Town

Stu Morgan introduces Bostik South East new boys Haywards Heath Town

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Stu Morgan reflects on a marvellous season for Haywards Heath Town- and looks forward to starting a journey that he feels the club should have started a year earlier.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

After being written off by many the unbeaten 12 match run which ended in not only lifting the title but also the league cup was brilliant for the players- and the club- after the previous seasons shambolic end. It was a very tight league, and for the lads to go and mirror the previous season and accomplish the clubs goal to get to step 4 football was a fantastic achievement.

2. And your worst moment?

We hit a real low away to Newhaven at the end of February, dropping to about 7th in the league- but it also turned out to be the spring board we needed. It was followed by two draws then ten wins, with the team conceding just four goals in that entire period.

3. How will you do this season?

That’s a tough one for the new kids on the block! We have great team morale, a fantastic management set up, and a great pitch that promotes entertaining football- and feel we will hold our own. A mid table finish as we try to stabilize would be a fantastic achievement at our first go, but our team have a great winning mentality and I think will surprise a few along the way.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Having only visited Culver Road (Horsham’s temp home), Three Bridges, Sevenoaks and East Grinstead I’m looking forward to visiting all the new grounds along the way. We will no doubt learn loads from the established teams, and see how we can improve and grow our own club.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

I don’t have a particular favorite ground, you find that nearly everywhere you go you find like-minded football people working really hard to make the club work. I do love a ground with a good band of noisy supporters (not the abuse shouters), but the likes of Eastbourne Town and Whitehawk provide a great atmosphere so it will be great to see how many other clubs have supporters like that that leave a lasting impression.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

After last season with both being promoted it has to be Three Bridges; two sides with the will to win and committed players makes it an entertaining match. We also face them home and away on a Tuesday night, and it always adds to the occasion being under lights.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Get to the ground early (to get a parking space) and enjoy the large stand and welcoming clubhouse.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?
Having only been at the club for seven years that’s a tough one for me to answer. Looking at the current squad, if I was put in a corner Karly Akehurst would pip it; passion and a determination to win every game, leaves nothing in the dressing room and a great example of giving your all for the club.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?
Greenwich Borough, Cray Wanderers, Thamesmead Town, Hastings Utd, Hythe Town
