Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Potters Bar Town

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Potters Bar Town fan Alan Evans looks back on a wonderful season for the Scholars, and looks forward to a trip to Lewes.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

We had many great moments last season in a promotion year. The performances in the FA Cup at Hampton and Richmond and in the Trophy against Hereford were especially memorable. However, the highlight has to be the final day win on the last day at Barking which clinched automatic promotion.

2. And your worst moment?

3-0 down away at Tilbury after 30 minutes after changing our usual formation. Anywhere else I’d have been in the bar at half time and stayed there. We changed back in the second half and with a better performance almost snatched a draw.

3. How will you do this season?

So difficult to say as there are so many unfamiliar teams. But with the circus moving on following the departure of Billericay and Dulwich it should be a very competitive league. Looking at some of the signings made by clubs it looks as though quite a few are hoping to give it a go.

Our management team will look to be top half around Christmas time and reassess from there. Personally, I reckon mid table would be a good first season but we may also surprise a few people much as we did last season. Either that or I would settle for the table ending as it starts – in alphabetical order.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Looking forward to visiting so many new grounds and clubs this season but I think it has to be the Dripping Pan at Lewes. Apart from that its anywhere with decent ale. It will be great also to renew acquaintances with old friends at Wingate & Finchley and Enfield Town.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Don’t really know many in this league but I like the old stand and great pitch at Wingate so I’ll settle for that.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Most of our traditional rivals are in leagues below us – many in the Spartan League. We will look forward to games against our closest team Enfield and Wingate though. The Enfield manager Andy Leese used to manage The Scholars and we have always enjoyed competitive matches against them in the past. Wingate and Finchley…. well there’s probably a book in that in itself.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

- Get here early,
- Don’t bother with the local pubs but our bar is open early
- Keep your eye on the traffic reports for the M25.
- Don’t park in Mayfair lodge

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

All of last season’s promotion squad. Other than that I’d have to say Tom Pett – now at Lincoln. Oozed class even as a youngster and played the game with a smile – usually at someone who’d kicked him up in the air.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Kingstonian, Bognor Regis Town, Folkestone Invicta, Tonbridge Angels, Leatherhead
