Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Thamesmead Town

Steve Panther takes us on a prowl through the world of Thamesmead Town

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Steve Panther of Thamesmead Town pounced on the opportunity to represent his club once more- here are his views and recollections.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

There was many actually, but I suppose you can’t get away from the Billericay home game in the FA Cup, and the Mead putting in an unbelievable effort in a 1-1 draw.

2. And your worst moment?

The passing of a club legend Peter Tierney.

3. How will you do this season?

Pretty much the same thought this pre season as last- that sadly budgets etc do come in to play at all levels of football and we have once again lost some really fantastic players and have to cut our cloth accordingly. Having said that Tommy Warrilow has proven to be something of a miracle man when it comes to the turnover of players, and by hook or by crook I’m sure he will have us at the right end of the table.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Haywards Heath, Sevenoaks Town, and Three Bridges- as these are the only 3 grounds in the league I have yet to visit.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Going by last season’s games it would have to be Hastings United ( and not just because we scored 2 in the 90th minute to win ). It’s just a great stadium.
6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

VCD and Phoenix I suppose due to proximity.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

It’s a fair walk from the nearest pub, so go in to Dartford Town centre have a beer and get a taxi up from there.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?
Although I have been in and around Thamesmead since the late seventies I have only been a regular for 5 seasons so I would have to say Tom O’Connor- a player I have a lot of time for.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?
Whyteleafe, Hythe Town, Cray Wanderers, Greenwich Borough, Ashford United

Where next?

Hill bring in Beck Bognor lose another player to a Sussex rival
