Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Ware

Peter Miller takes us to Ware the action is (sorry).

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Peter Miller gives us the lowdown on the world of Ware.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

The last minute goal to win 3-2 away at Soham. I’d driven two hours from Birmingham to get there and made it through the rush hour for the 7:45 kick off. The boys kept battling and came from behind to snatch it 3-2 in injury time. That result confirmed our safety and you could see it what it meant to the team and fans.

2. And your worst moment?

Getting the text to say that trouble was brewing and Craig Edwards had jumped ship to Cheshunt. After building a decent squad and getting a couple of results we were very optimistic. Thankfully now we have someone who’s given us hope again and is also loyal.

3. How will you do this season?

After years of struggle, it’s hard to be optimistic as a Ware fan! We’re still rebuilding and a change of divisions will always see a change in the playing squad. I know the management are aiming higher, but I’d take 15th with no relegation worries during the season. A couple of cup wins would be nice!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I always enjoy the new grounds and our new division gives us a fair few. Many of us Ware fans live around the country now, but we’ve already pencilled in the final league game away at Marlow as a must. I’m also looking forward to the opening game at home to South Park. That’ll be our first competitive game on our brand new 3G surface.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Whilst we haven’t played them for years, I used to love heading down to Lewes. It always involved us fans jumping on a coach with the players. We picked up some decent results down there and the bowl-style of the ground added to the experience.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Hertford. Locality.
It pained me last season to see them finish above us for the first time in years. Let’s hope we right that wrong this season.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

If coming by train then allow plenty of time, partly for the walk up the hill, but also so that you can sample some of the watering holes in the town centre. The Old Bulls Head is one of many good ones.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?
His time at the club tied in with our glory days so it has to be John Frendo. He banged the goals in for us when we won Isthmian Division 2 and went on to the FA Cup 1st Round. They were great days.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?
Hayes & Yeading Utd, Bracknell Town, Tooting & Mitcham Utd, Cheshunt, Northwood
