Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Carshalton Athletic

Back to the South Division for our latest set of supporter predictions, this time from James Barrett on behalf of Carshalton Athletic

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of James Barrett representing Carshalton Athletic.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Overall, I think it was seeing so many of the club's homegrown talent mature, after several seasons, and be a main catalyst for helping take the club on an exciting ride - we missed out on a play-off spot by a single point! Results-wise, the 10-0 thumping of Goldalming still lingers in the mind, as does the dramatic 4-3 home win over Lewes during the closing stages.

2. And your worst moment?

Being robbed of an exciting FA Cup win at Worthing back in September - we were 3-2 up in added time, having had 10 men for last half hour, but the ref awarded a soft penalty which our hosts converted. We went on to lose the replay at home.

3. How will you do this season?

I'm extremely positive that we'll be one of the leading clubs in the division again. The management team has strengthened the squad in key areas and, so far, we've kept all our leading lights from last season.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to - and why?

I'm looking forward to the games against clubs like Hastings Utd, Greenwich Borough and Corinthian Casuals - we had some great battles against them all last season. I'm also excited to visit clubs like Ashford United, Phoenix Sports and VCD Athletic for the first time.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

I always enjoy seeing us play Lewes at the Dripping Pan, but I must also mention Footes Lane - the home of Guernsey. It's always a thrill travelling to a game via plane, plus they have modern facilities and almost always a warm and friendly welcome.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Personally, this season, I think it'll be Corinthian Casuals. They are comparatively up the road and our matches are always competitive. I expect both of us to be vying for promotion again this season too.
7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Be prepared to see your team play against a team that loves to keep the ball on the deck. Also, don't overindulge before arriving - leave room for our tasty burgers and real ales!

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

This is a hard question - I have so many! Right now I'll say Billy Crook, a midfielder who was with us a few seasons ago. Neat and tidy in the ball, can chip in with goals and is a nice guy off-the-pitch. He's just signed for Braintree Town and its pleasing to see someone like him advancing his career.

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Hastings United, Carshalton Athletic, Corinthian Casuals, Thamesmead Town, Greenwich Borough
