Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Kingstonian

The next in our supporter previews takes us to Kingstonian, via Leatherhead- or Levred- in the company of Richard 'Rex' Exworthy.

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of Richard Exworthy representing Kingstonian.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

The arrival of new manager Craig Edwards. When he was appointed, we had six games left, we'd drawn 3 and lost 8 of the previous 11 games, and we were in the relegation zone. He steered us to four wins and a draw, keeping us in the Isthmian Premier. (Runner-up moment, invading the blue monstrosity (stand) behind the goal in what used to our "home" terrace - the Kingston Road End, during our final match at Kingsmeadow.)

2. And your worst moment?

It's hard to single out just one worst moment of last season, but final confirmation of the Wombles' sale of Kingsmeadow Stadium to Chelsea that resulted in our exile in Leatherhead is like a recurring nightmare. (Runner up moment, being knocked out of the Cup to [insert lower league opposition here].)

3. How will you do this season?

Even with Craig Edwards at the helm, it's hard to be too optimistic. He's kept a few excellent players from last year, and will doubtless attract a few more, so on the field we should be okay. It's just that it's not OUR field (it's Levred's) and faith in the Board to find us a new one is fading fast. Compared to last season, we're expecting attendances (and thus the budget) to be much lower, so confidence is hardly brimming over at the moment.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

5. What is your favourite away ground?

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

I’m going to answer four questions in one, and they can all be answered, in one way or another, with the word Levred. I suppose the match I'm looking forward to most next season is our Home game (sic) against them. (It could be our highest gate of the season, it'll probably be our noisiest, and it's bound to be our "partiest".) Levred will doubtless become our favourite away ground. They'll probably be our main rivals next year. And the advice I'd give to visiting fans would be the same word, "Levred". (Runner up answer: Sutton. We love visiting Gangrene Lane and showing them what non-league passion looks and sounds like.)

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

My all-time favourite player? Bobby Traynor; scored more 150 goals in over 250 games for the Ks, including his "wonder goal" (many of us would say we've never seen a better goal in non-league football) in the League Play-Off semi-final (2010) against our hated rivals Sutton. Never got a red card. (Runner up player: Mazin Ahmad, not least for scoring direct from a corner - twice!)

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Still to be decided- check back later!
