Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Maldon & Tiptree

For this supporters preview we head to the home of the Jammers, where Richard Buckby advises you to wear a duffel coat in August!

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of Richard Buckby for Maldon & Tiptree.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Wow, that's a tough one. We had a lot of positive moments last season, but watching Liam Nash score five goals against Phoenix Sports is up there. However, for me, Liam's last minute volley against Heybridge Swifts was the best.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Without a doubt, it has to be losing to Thurrock in the Play-Off Final. Although Thurrock deserved it on the day, it was a tough pill to swallow after being top of the league for so long.

3. How will you do this season?

Without trying to put too much pressure on the boys, I expect us to be battling for the top two spots, and ideally be promoted as champions. We have the squad to do it, and I for one have a lot of faith in Kev & Mark.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to- and why?

This season, it has to be Aveley. Everyone is desperate to get a good look at their new faculties, plus they have the league's best Media Man in James Manktelow!

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Another tough one. There are a few that spring to mind, AFC Sudbury is a nice venue with fantastic people. However my favourite, due to the feeling and atmosphere around the place, has to be Bury Town - a good old football ground.
We don't normally get a result though.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

This one is a no brainer for me, seeing as they are a village within Maldon, it has to be Heybridge Swifts!

7. What advice would you give to an away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Make sure you wrap up warm, Park Drive is always bitterly cold... even in August!

8. Who is your favourite player (for your club) of all time- and why?

Since the club formed in 2010 there have been a few, but the standout player has to be Liam Nash - not to mention his recent achievement in signing for Gillingham.

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Maldon & Tiptree, AFC Hornchurch, Canvey Island, AFC Sudbury, Grays Athletic.
