Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Margate

By Ian Townsend

Back into the Premier Division for our latest supporters predictions- this time courtesy of Martin Black of Margate

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of Martin Black representing Margate.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Definitely Ira Jackson's two goals in our win against Gosport Borough to end our club-record losing streak. The scenes when those goals went in were incredible, & our supporters even carried him into our clubhouse after the game!

2. And your worst moment?

Relegation being confirmed away at Weston Super Mare. We'd known we were in danger of going down for a while, but it was still heartbreaking when it happened.

3. How will you do this season?

After the turbulence of the last two seasons, I'd be overjoyed with finishing in the top 10 - Our manager Steve Watt has made some terrific signings though and is sure to not let anyone rest on their laurels! We could maybe slip under the radar and make a playoff push, but a top 10 finish would be a good season in my opinion.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Worthing away - nice part of the world & will be great to see a couple of our old players (Sam Rents & Kane Wills) Also Dorking Wanderers away, can't beat a bit of Boxing Day football!

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Lewes, without a doubt. Really enjoy visiting the Dripping Pan - beautiful views, a nice friendly club & fans, and fond memories of a 5-1 win in the pouring rain on our last visit. The food there is a bit special too!

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

I'd say Maidstone United - our games with them always seem to have a bit of extra spice!

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Enjoy it - our club has a very friendly atmosphere & you're sure to get a pleasant welcome whether you're on your own or with family. Also well worth checking out the local attractions like Dreamland & the beach to really make a day of it.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

I'd go with Ryan Moss - scored the winning goal in the playoff final a couple of years ago. Not only that, he's a very talented player and I'm a big fan of how he conducts himself on and off the pitch. A true gentleman.

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Dulwich Hamlet, Billericay Town, Leiston, Margate, Tonbridge Angels.
