Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Staines Town

For our next supporters prediction we have a Swans double-header; Daniel and Pat representing Staines Town

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of Daniel Norris and Pat Nixon, representing Staines Town.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Pat: Beating Maidenhead at home in the FA Cup, it meant a lot with it being our managers old club and there has always been a small rivalry between us and Maidenhead. Also personally winning our own fan of the year trophy meant a lot.

Dan: I really enjoyed the two 4-0 victories we had in the space of a week, first was 18th Feb at home to AFC Sudbury and then at home to Worthing on the 25th Feb.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Pat: Losing in the FA Cup to Chesham, it was the 3rd Qualifying round and they went on to play Peterborough!

Dan: Have to say I totally agree with Pat, was a hard loss to take especially knowing there was a potential big tie to come for the winner.

3. How will you do this season?

Pat: I'd love to finish in the playoff positions, although I think top 10 is certainly a realistic opportunity for us. Signing Elliot Buchanan is massive for us and I can see him scoring 20+ league goals this season.

Dan: After finishing very well last year and keeping most of the squad together I would really love to push on to the play offs

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to- and why?

Pat: Margate away , Lowestoft away - we love an away day at Staines Town and these two are high up the list along with Billericay for obvious reasons!

Dan: As Pat has mentioned I’d love to beat Billericay on their own turf, I think the mass media/social media promotion will work against them with every team trying their upmost to beat them almost treating the game as a cup final.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Not answered, for some reason. But we don’t expect the answer was Hampton & Richmond Borough!

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

We don’t really have a massive rivalry in this league, in previous years we have had some big games against Farnborough and Woking.

7. What advice would you give to an away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Pat: A tip for the cold winter matches, the upstairs toilets are VERY warm as they are above a swimming pool and this always seems to amuse fans reviewing our ground.

Dan: Whatever you do , don’t underestimate the walk from the Station to the ground… it’s approx. 1.2 miles but it feels like it goes on forever!

8. Who is your favourite player (for your club) of all time- and why?

Pat: Tommy Brewer, he shows commitment, & great leadership skills every game, Tommy has a great relationship with the fans and always spares a few minutes before and after games for a chat. Most importantly he is currently our longest serving player.

Dan: David Wheeler, currently playing for league 2 side Exeter City. One of the best players I have seen play at this level let alone my club, he was always quicker and stronger than most and has certainly gone on to better things playing for Exeter City.

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Pat: Leatherhead, Billericay , Dulwich , Margate, Enfield.
Dan: Leatherhead, Billericay, Margate, Leiston, Worthing

Don’t worry, they’re only allowed one joint prediction for the final predicted League table to be produced next week!
