Brazil tour making international headlines

Corinthians-Casuals

Millions of fans around the world are reading about the upcoming tour of Corinthians-Casuals to Brazil to mark the outbreak of World War One on the Daily Mail's hit website.

The paper's website - one of the most popular in the world - is running a feature on the Ryman South club's trip to South America in January to play Corinthians-Paulista, the club they helped inspire.

Corinthians-Paulista have around 25 million supporters across Brazil and were founded after three legendary tours to South America by the Surrey club in 1910, 1913 and 1914.

The latter was cut short by the outbreak of the global conflict and the clubs are meeting again on January 25 at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, pictured. Purpose built for the World Cup, the stadium holds almost 48,000 fans and hosted June's opening ceremony and six matches including the semi-final between Argentina and Holland.

The two clubs have enjoyed strong links ever since the foundation of Corinthians-Paulista and in August Corinthian-Casuals unveiled their new kit for the 2014-15 campaign in Brazil at the headquarters of their Brazilian brothers.

Casuals are also making a documentary about their shared history and the Brazilian club is supporting their efforts.

Marketing director Alexandre Ferrera said: "Corinthians only exist because of the Corinthians-Casuals, and our links go back more than 100 years. We have always been open to helping them. We decided to promote a game where the gate money will help them pay the cost of the Brazil trip and the documentary."
