Former Ebbsfleet manager Steve Brown has taken charge of Lewes until the end of the Ryman Premier campaign.

Brown, pictured, has been out of football since leaving the Conference South club in November and agreed to become the club's interim manager on Wednesday.

He will be assisted by Dave Jupp, his number two at Fleet. Together the pair guided their former club to the play-offs last season after taking over in June 2013 and they will take charge for the first time at the Dripping Pan on Saturday when the Rooks host Kingstonian in the Ryman's top flight.

The duo were appointed nearly two weeks after the East Sussex club parted company with manager Garry Wilson, assistant Danny Bloor and coach Dean Lightwood before appointing a caretaking trio of Martin Hinshelwood, Steve Eke and Mark McGhee.

In a statement confirming their new management team, the Rooks said Hinshelwood would revert to his role with the Lewes academy after helping Brown and Jupp prepare for their first game at the helm at the weekend.

Both Brighton-born Brown and Jupp are UEFA A licenced coaches with a wealth of experience between them in professional football and the Non-League game.

During a 15-year playing career, Brown made 242 league appearances for Charlton Athletic and also played for Reading before retiring in 2005 and joining Alan Pardew’s back-room staff at West Ham United.

The 42-year-old went on to work as a coach in Brighton's academy before becoming assistant manager at Conference South outfit Dover Athletic.
