Precision Golden Gloves Awards

Margate keeper Nikki Bull and Thamesmead Town’s Rob Budd will collect their second golden glove accolades of the season after being named on Thursday alongside Marcus Garnham at AFC Sudbury and Luke Watkins at Whitstable Town as November’s winners of the Ryman League’s Precision Golden Gloves Awards.

The monthly ‘safe hands’ honours in the Ryman Premier, Ryman North and Ryman South divisions are sponsored by Nottingham-based Reydon Sports PLC, the UK's largest sports and leisure wholesale and distribution company.

Through their Precision Goalkeeping brand, the four keepers will each receive a pair of Precision Goalkeeping gloves provided by ProKit UK, the nominated retailer administering the awards on their behalf.

August’s Premier Division winner Bull collects his second safe hands honour after conceding just four times in five league outings. Margate’s 32-year-old former England C international kicked off his career at Queens Park Rangers and spent time at Hayes on loan before moving on to Aldershot Town, Brentford, Wycombe Wanderers.

Thamesmead Town’s Robb Budd shared the inaugural Ryman North accolade in August with Aveley stopper James Marrable and posted an identical record, one goal in three league outings, with AFC Sudbury’s Garnham.

Budd is raising money for Cancer UK this season through the charity’s 'Clean Sheet Cancer Challenge’ at Bayliss Avenue after losing his sister to the disease in 2012. Garnham, who spent seven years at Bury Town before moving on in the summer, is already highly regarded after winning numerous golden glove awards including being named the Ryman Premier’s top goalkeeper in successive seasons in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

In Ryman South, former Rochester United stopped Watkins will collect his first accolade after being beaten just five times in five league outings over November. Watkins committed to the Oystermen in the summer after starting last season as understudy before claiming The Belmont No.1 shirt. He soon established himself as a fans’ favourite and this term has even been praised by opposition managers for his outstanding displays.

Precision Goalkeeping boast an impressive list of keeping talent on their books including Kasper Schmeichel, Kieren Westwood, Tomasz Kuszczak, Darren Randolph, David Forde, Frank Fielding, Brian Jensen, Robert Olejnik, Andy Lonergan, Ian McLoughlin, Trevor Carson and Republic of Ireland goalkeeping coach and former international Alan Kelly.

Former England manager Graham Taylor is lead ‘brand ambassador’ for the company which was established in 2005 and also has official partnerships with the Irish Football Association and the Football Association of Wales.
