Gulls pick up Isthmian Charity Shield

Canvey Island hosted AFC Hornchurch at the Frost Hire Stadium in the Isthmian Charity Shield this afternoon, and it was the home side who ended up lifting the trophy- indeed, it's so big it may well have taken all of them to do so!

The Urchins took the lead through Nathan Livings after 20 minutes, with Martin Tuohy equalising six minutes before the interval. The Gulls were ahead only three minutes later, Mitchell Gilbey with the goal, and held on to their lead throughout the second half.

Three charities will benefit. These will be the League's chosen charity, the London Playing Fields Foundation, and two nominated by the clubs- The Danny Green Fund and Haven House Children's Hospice.
