Casuals enjoy that winning feeling

News on last night's Velocity Trophy encounter- and a look ahead to the action this evening

Corinthian-Casuals picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday with a late winner at Harlow Town, and last night made it two in little more than 48 hours by thrashing Premier Division rivals Carshalton Athletic in the Velocity Trophy.

In a stormy match which saw Casuals pick up five yellow cards, they took the lead when Jordan Clarke found the net from 20 yards right on the half time whistle. Warren Mfula made it two six minutes after the restart, whilst Reece Hannigan got the third with twenty-five minutes remaining. It was to get worse for Athletic before the end, as player/manager Peter Adeniyi managed to pick up two yellow cards in little more than two minutes and took the walk of shame.

Here's a link to the e-programme, which is worth a read.

Tonight we have matches in the Premier Division, North Division, South East Division and Velocity Trophy.

In the top flight Worthing travel to the Pakex to take on Potters Bar Town hoping to bounce back after their first defeat of the season on Saturday, whilst in the North Division expect a high-scoring encounter as Bowers & Pitsea play for only the second time on their new pitch, Aveley the visitors.

The South East Division sees Three Bridges host Sevenoaks Town with both still looking for their first victory- indeed, Bridges are still looking for their first point- whilst Whitstable Town take on Haywards Heath Town at The Belmont.

We have a number of matches in the Velocity Trophy. You can see the entire list here, but it's derby after derby after derby, which should add some spice to the occasions. Amongst the fixtures, Ashford United entertain Folkestone Invicta, Bognor Regis Town host Whitehawk, Herne Bay face Hythe Town, and- although obviously not derbies- Margate travel to Tooting & Mitcham United whilst Bury Town travel to Northwood, both undoubtedly hoping that the M25 will be kind for once.

Where next?

Rocks get eight- yet aren’t even the top scorers on a night of goals galore in the Velocity Trophy U’s score nine, Hythe get six, Invicta four- whilst in the league Bowers and Aveley share six! Our round up of Tuesday’s action
