Chairman's funeral open to all

Tilbury

Ryman League Tilbury are inviting their fans to join the family, friends and colleagues of former Chairman Robin Nash at his funeral next Thursday.

The Ryman North club's former Company Secretary and Chairman, pictured, passed away earlier this month following a heart attack aged 72. His funeral takes place at 2pm on October 24 at the South Essex Crematorium in Ockendon Road, Corbets Tey, Upminster.

The Dockers say all are welcome to gather at Chadfields from 1pm and return to their ground following the service to help celebrate his life and pay tribute to Nash. A lifelong fan of the club and father of three, he had been Chairman for more than 25 years following a long and varied career that included service in the merchant navy.

Due to his ill health, he finally stood down earlier this year and was succeeded as Chairman at the start of the current season by his son Daniel Nash. His daughter Victoria is also a Dockers Director. Tilbury held a minute's silence for their late Chairman before their 3-0 win over Needham Market in the FA Trophy's Preliminary Round at Chadfields earlier this month.
