Champions double up on phone-in special

Ryman Round-up Show

Thursday’s night’s Ryman Round-up Show has turned into a champions special after Wealdstone clinched the Ryman Premier championship.

After Peacehaven & Telscombe won the Ryman South title last weekend, the Stones became the Ryman League’s second divisional champions on Tuesday night thanks to their 1-0 win at Margate.

To celebrate their success, the secretaries of both clubs – Wealdstone’s Nick Dugard and Derek Earley from the Magpies – agreed to late requests to join fans on the weekly phone-in.

Thursday’s show is also covering epilepsy in football with a number of guests led by Tooting & Mitcham manager Craig Tanner and Gillingham star Leon Legge, who both suffer from epilepsy, set to reveal their own experiences battling the condition.

The pair answered the call of producers who asked fans, players and officials with epilepsy to give their views on the special edition. Presenters David Square and BBC reporter and commentator Karl Bates, a key voice of the charity Epilepsy Action, the UK’s leading organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by the condition, made the successful appeal last weekend.

The Ryman Round-up Show was launched last August by Harlow-based online community station Hawks Radio. Broadcasting online from 7 to 10pm every Thursday night, apart from the last Thursday in the month when the show goes out between 8 and 10pm, every edition is also podcasted for listeners who can't tune in live.
