Champs all set for final showdown!

By David Watters

The Ryman League's stars of the future are getting ready to kick off in their 'Champion of Champions' cup final on Wednesday night!

Fans of Tonbridge Angels and the Metropolitan Police are descending on Tooting & Mitcham United's KNK Stadium to see their next generation of players meeting in the climax of the Ryman Youth League's 2016-17 season.

The U18s stars booked their berths in the 7.30pm kick-off at Imperial Fields after Angels celebrated winning the Ryman East Division championship by a single point from runners-up Merstham, pictured, and the Met romped to the Ryman Central Division title by a massive 14 points from nearest rivals Woking.

Divided into four divisions - Ryman Central, Ryman East, Ryman West and Ryman South - the Ryman Youth League was set up to provide young players with a professional club experience within a structured league to prepare them for the step up into senior club football and kicked off back in September with 38 clubs.

As well as the U18s sides at many Ryman League clubs, the competition was also entered by teams representing the Football Conference, Evo-Stik League Southern, Combined Counties Football League, Sussex County Football League and Southern Counties East Football League.
