Hillians manager Ian Chapman is backing a shake-up the managerial teams running the youth and U21 sides at Ryman South champions Burgess Hill Town.

In a major overhaul of the boot room at the Green Elephants Stadium, the Hillians say Paul Armstrong will take over as U21 manager for the new season after guiding the West Sussex club's youth team to second place in the Ryman Youth League last season.

He will be assisted by Ian South, his number two last term, following the departure of former U21 manager Neil Wheeler.

Praising the out-going Wheeler for the support he gave his promoted champions, pictured, Chapman said: “Firstly, a big thank you to Neil Wheeler who is stepping down from his position as U21 manager. Neil has been at the club for a number of years and has done a terrific job at youth and U21 level but he feels he would like a break.

“Our new U21 management team will see Paul Armstrong stepping up with Ian South being his assistant. They have done a fantastic job with the youth team and we are really pleased they have accepted their new roles.”

In their statement announcing the overhaul, officials also named Tony Tregear as the club's new youth team manager. Tregar, who will be assisted by Nigel Pearce and Adam Kipling, is no stranger to supporters having jointly-managed the side with Ashley Carr to four Ryman Youth championships.

Chapman added: “It’s great to have Tony back at the club. He along with Ashley have done great for the club in the past and I feel it’s an exciting time to be at Burgess Hill Town FC.”
