Concord to face Dulwich in final

By Peter Butcher

THE FINAL of the Isthmian League Cup will be between Concord Rangers, third in Ryman Premier, and Dulwich Hamlet, second in Ryman South.

Concord reached the final for the first time with a 3-0 home win over FA Cup heroes Hastings tonight (Tuesday). They took the lead with a Danny Glozier penalty after 24 minutes and went 2-0 up through Danny Spendlove immediately after half-time.

Tony Stokes made quite sure with 15 minutes left (pictured by Mikey Cartwright), though Concord still had to hope that thickening fog would not bring a premature end to proceedings.

Dulwich, beaten in the 2011 final, had a longer night before seeing off Thamesmead, second in Ryman North, in a penalty shoot-out at Champion Hill after an entertaining 1-1 draw.

Impressive teenager Danny Carr scored his seventh goal in the competition, converting a Nyren Clunis cross, to put Dulwich ahead five minutes before the interval but Rob Carter headed home a corner to equalise with 17 minutes left.

So to penalties, and there were seven successful kicks before Thamesmead keeper Rob Budd stepped up and saw his effort hit a post.

Another Dulwich youngster, Richmond Ayoola, kept his nerve to maintain his side’s perfect record and give them a 5-3 victory.
