Robert Dyas League Cup Final

Congratulations to Hendon on winning the Ryman League's Robert Dyas League Cup on Wednesday night and to Grays Athletic for their battling performance as worthy finalists.

Gary McCann's Greens beat their Essex opponents and top flight rivals 3-2 at Whyteleafe's Church Road to lift the trophy for the second time in their history after Hendon's last triumph way back in 1977.

Goals from Andre Da Costa on 36 and 73 minutes, sandwiching a Kezie Ibe strike five minutes before the break, ended the dreams of Grays Athletic who were also hoping to lift the trophy for a second time after their 3-1 victory over Enfield in 1992.

After going two down, player-manager Mark Bentley and his Blues pulled one back through Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson three minutes before the break and a second late on, Sean Cronin grabbing what was ultimately only a 90th minute consolation.
