Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley has been mingling with the stars on his birthday, albeit by accident!

The Ryman South club's manager was visiting his favourite Italian restaurant in nearby Rye with his wife Pauline to celebrate his 58th birthday last Wednesday night when they found themselves dining alongside showbiz royalty - ex-Beatles and multi-millionaire Sir Paul McCartney and his wide Nancy Shevell, pictured, who own a home on the Kent/Sussex border.

It turned out that Sir Paul was celebrating his wife's 55th birthday and Cugley revealed afterwards that he and fellow diners ended up singing her Happy Birthday!

The Invicta manager, whose side lost 1-2 at home to Three Bridges on Saturday, joked: "We had to pinch ourselves but then someone said: ‘Is that who I think it is?' Sure enough it was Macca out celebrating his wife’s birthday. We all had to sing 'Happy Birthday' to her – despite me suggesting it should have been the other way round!"
