Cup kid is second youngest scorer

Folkestone Invicta have been hailing their young striker Euan Sahadow’s after he became the Ryman Premier club's second youngest ever scorer in the Emirates FA Cup.

Sahadow wrote himself into the Kent club's history books last Saturday when aged 16 and 141 days he struck his first senior goal to seal Invicta's 3-1 win over Waltham Forest at the Fullicks Stadium in the second qualifying round.

Luke Coleman, who netted twice in a 6-0 romp over Combined Counties League outfit Raynes Park Vale on the wide open spaces of St George’s Playing Fields twelve years ago in 2004, still holds the cub's record at 16 years and 49 days.

Folkestone’s youngest goalscorer in senior football was the legendary John Ayling whose first goal for the club came at the tender age of 16 years and 40 days. Christened ‘The Lord’ because of his flowing locks, he was also Invicta’s youngest ever player after making his debut some three weeks before scoring.

An Invicta spokesman said: "Sahadow made the most of his chance at the weekend when he converted a fine cross by fellow substitute Matt Newman in stoppage time. The in-form Harvey Grammar School student was on target again less than 24 hours later with two more for Invicta’s U18s as they beat local rivals Kennington 3-2 on Sunday. That’s six goals by Euan for Paul Stanton’s lads in their three games so far this season."

The youngest ever scorers in the Cup now are Sean Cato at 16 years and 25 days for Barrow Town against Rothwell Town in season 2011-12. In the same season and in the competition 'proper', George Williams is the record holder at 16 years, two months and five days, notched up when he scored for MK Dons against Nantwich Town.
