Davis rescues Brickies

By Peter Butcher

A GOAL deep into added time by Nick Davis earned Sittingbourne a 2-2 Ryman South draw at Eastbourne Town tonight (Wednesday).

The Brickies looked set to strengthen their grip on fourth place when Ryan Golding put them ahead with a 19th-minute penalty, his 14th league goal of the season.

But Eastbourne, 20th in the table, replied seven minutes before half-time through Richard Greenfield and then took the lead with a goal from top scorer Danny Curd in the 73rd minute. Although they had to settle for a point in the end, it was enough to lift them two places.

The Ryman North game between Ilford and Redbridge was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Where next?

Thurrock must cross the bridge ONLY two previous winners feature in the quarter-final draw for the Isthmian League Cup which has just been released – even though, thanks to postponements, there are at present 11 teams in the last eight!
Mark doubles up for Margate TOP met bottom in last night’s sole surviving Ryman Premier match and it went with the formbook as Mark Corneille’s first two league goals of the season spurred Margate to a 3-1 home victory over Carshalton.
