Decision time for manager

Chatham Town's manager Kevin Watson has told the current crop of players training with the Ryman League club that he intends to start cutting numbers after Saturday’s pre-season friendly away to Fisher.

Watson used 22 players on Tuesday when the Ryman North's Chats returned to action with a 1-0 defeat at Cray Valley. But with the start of the new season now just three weeks away, he faces key decisions about who to sign and which trialists to release.

Watson told Kentonline.co.uk on Friday: "There is judgment to be made on players because we need to narrow the squad down a bit. You start to formulate decisions. It’s not always a case of whether they are or aren’t good enough, sometimes it’s a case of whether they fit into the team, what you need at that time."
