Defender stays in top flight

Defender Ricardo Joseph is staying in the Ryman League's top flight after switching to the Metropolitan Police from Carshalton Athletic.

Joseph, 26, made 37 appearances for the Robins in last season's Ryman Premier campaign but could not prevent their relegation into Ryman South.

After kicking off his career at the old Rushden & Diamonds, Joseph went on to play for Rugby Town, Worthing, Harrow Borough, Margate and Ashford Town (Middx) before joining Carshalton Athletic in March 2010.

Met manager Jim Cooper, who saw nearly 50 players turn up for the Imber Court outfit's first training session on Monday, said: "Ricardo is a versatile left-sided player who can fill in at left-back or left midfield, which is a great advantage to us."
