Formed by Kick It Out and the Football Supporters’ Federation this season to build on the success of their joint Fans For Diversity campaign over the last three years, the fans lost their inaugural fixture at Imber Court 7-5 despite taking a 3-0 lead against Middlesex County League Stonewall with a first half hat-trick from Dagenham & Redbridge striker Chris Moore.
Supported by the Premier League’s fans fund, the ‘Fans for Diversity’ campaign was launched with Kick It Out in March 2014 to promote diversity and inclusion across the professional and Non-League game.
The friendly fixture in south west London was staged at the Ryman Premier club's ground with the help of the Surrey FA and the FSF's Anwar Uddin is now looking forward to Fans For Diversity kicking off against opponents around the country and attracting new members and supporters while raising awareness.
The FSF’s campaigns and diversity manager said: "We want to encourage everyone, regardless of background or ability, to come and join the team whether as a player, manager, coach, support staff or fan to be part of something truly unique."
