Appointed as skipper this season, the 28-year-old left on Friday as Tony Vance's Channel Islanders prepared to avoid setting an unwanted new record of five straight losses at Footes Lane in the 2pm kick-off.
The experienced Dodds did not feature in the club's 4-1 defeat at home to Corinthian-Casuals on Wednesday night after starting in their two previous reverses against Ramsgate and Godalming Town.
In a statement on their website with the latest weekend team news for fans and confirming the player's sudden departure after more than 200 appearances for the club, the Greens Lions said: "Jamie Dodd's decision to step away has been well publicised in the local media. The club may comment in due course."
