Needham Market are looking forward to making further improvements to Bloomfields for fans after the official opening of the Ryman North club’s Les Ward Stand.

Chairman Keith Nunn and vice-president Ward are pictured opening the new facility before last Saturday’s 3-0 win over Cray Wanderers in Suffolk.

The stand, funded by a donation from lifelong Marketman Ward, is the first in a range of improvements planned for Bloomfields over the coming months with the club currently exploring funding opportunities to build another stand to meet their commitments to disabled supporters.

Those ambitions received a boost in the close season when the club invested in an astroturf surface along either side of the pitch for match officials with the support of a new group of investors, the ‘Bloomfields Development Generals’.

They are hoping to fund further improvements and delighted officials believe the club's efforts are already paying off with attendances up on last year as they seek to attract even more family support for manager Mark Morsley and his side.

Marketmen chairman Nunn said: "Les Ward has been a staunch supporter of Needham Market Football Club and attends every home game that he is able to. He was a player for the club in his heyday and is always helping the club to grow.

"With his kind donation the club has been able to install a stand that means we now meet the seating requirements should we manage to get promotion this year. It also means that those supporters that like to stand behind the goal that their team is kicking towards now have shelter at both ends of the ground."
