Doubling up on success at Soham

Macron Manager of the Month Awards

Second-placed Soham Town Rangers head the chasing pack in Ryman North and on Saturday manager Steve Fallon collected his reward for their relentless pursuit of long-time leaders VCD Athletic, not one but two Macron Manager of the Month Awards.

Fallon, who has enjoyed success throughout his long managerial career after making his name at Histon who he took from the Eastern Counties to the Conference Premier, is pictured with his assistant Ian Hart and Rangers Chairman Colin Murfitt, centre, after being presented with the managerial accolades for November and December before his side’s latest win, the 2-0 victory over Erith & Belvedere.

To win November’s award, the 57-year-old broke the stranglehold of Vickers manager Tony Russell on the division’s honours with five wins from five in the league. Until then, Russell had swept all before him since the start of the season with a hat-trick of wins in the managerial stakes.

Fallon, who took over at Julius Martin Lane in March 2012, did it again in the run-up to Christmas, taking December’s Ryman North Macron Manager of the Month Award by guiding his side to another five wins and a draw from six outings.

Dulwich Hamlet’s Gavin Rose and Peacehaven & Telscombe manager Shaun Saunders were named at the start of January as December’s Macron winners in Ryman Premier and Ryman South respectively.

Along with Fallon, Rose won for the accolade for the second time after collecting October's top flight award. Magpies manager Saunders took the honour for the first time in Ryman South for masterminding his side’s five wins from five in December.

Like Fallon, Saunders and Rose were due to be presented with engraved glass trophies marking their achievements at pre-match presentations. All three are now in the running for the end of season Macron Manager of the Year Awards with the winners set to be unveiled at June's Ryman League Banquet & Ball at Wembley’s Hilton Hotel.
