Eastbourne adopt children's charity

By Peter Butcher

RYMAN South club Eastbourne Town have announced that they have chosen to support Demelza Hospice Care for Children as an officially 'adopted' charity.

The organisation is well known throughout East Sussex, Kent and South East London for its work with, and support for, children with life-limiting conditions and their families that are faced with uncertain futures.

Their fantastic services are delivered through the charity's Demelza Hospices as well as directly into the child's home.

Following a recent collection, a cheque for £500 was presented to Julie Brett from Demelza before Town's game with Faversham.

Club chairman David Jenkins said, "In keeping with our history and traditions, we are delighted to offer our support to this most worthy charity. Demelza Hospices offer care for the children and also their immediate families.

"It costs £1,800 for a full day's care and that would be our first target, one we are on our way to achieving thanks to the generosity of our fans and the extended Eastbourne Town family."
