Footballing charity KitAid says its volunteers are on standby to start collecting donations of unwanted kit from Ryman League clubs after Easter.

Last year alone, KitAid’s annual Easter Amnesty saw fans and clubs from the Ryman League and elsewhere donate more than 3,000 items of unwanted or discarded kits over the Bank Holiday fixtures for disadvantaged young footballers around the world.

KitAid’s founder Derrick Williams MBE, thanked the Ryman League clubs and their supporters who are taking part once again or have chosen for the first time to support the scheme which is hassle free and easy to sign up to.

Williams said: "With Easter this weekend all clubs and their fans need to do is contact us to let us know they are taking part and they can organise their own collection however they like.

"We've sent out posters to help clubs publicise the collections this year too and our regional volunteers are raring to go. They do the rest, including collecting the kit and any other donations of sporting equipment that people think might still have a use.

"It’s that easy and well worth the effort for the thousands of very grateful young footballers who’ll be helped. Thank you in advance to everybody who does donate."

Former England manager Graham Taylor OBE is patron of the charity which since its foundation in 1998 has distributed nearly 250,000 donated shirts in more than 30 countries.
