betting.net Performance of the Month Award- September

By Ian Townsend

Here are our September winners!

The winners of our betting.net Performance of the Month Awards for September all have one thing in common- each of them were awarded the prize for FA Cup heroics! Two of the three sides are still in the competition and play in the Fourth Qualifying Round on Saturday, but each deserves real credit for defeating higher division opponents.

Premier Division

We start at the Green Elephants Stadium, where we honour Ian Chapman’s marvellous Burgess Hill Town. In the 3rd Qualifying Round National League South Wealdstone and their Raider came to call, and they left with their tails between their legs as Cheik Toure stepped up to fire home right at the death.

The Hillians take on Dartford at home at the weekend.

North Division

Haringey Borough are perhaps already bored with awards, having won the Manager of the Month and the Safe Hands Goalkeepers Award for September, but our apologies, here’s another! On 16th September they travelled to National League South Welling United, and two goals from Ralston Gabriel sent them through.

Borough take on Heybridge Swifts for a place in the 1st Round proper.

South Division

Faversham Town haven’t had the best of starts to their league campaign, but on Saturday 2nd September they turned the form book on its head as Premier Division Tonbridge Angels arrived at the Shepherd Neame Stadium. Angels had not been for a brewery tour before the game, but they left with a hangover nonetheless as a double from Mark Lovell and a third from Matthew Bourne sent Town sailing through to the next round.
