Dave Andrews: RIP

By Ian Townsend

Funeral details announced for former Dagenham and Redbridge Chairman

Dave Andrews, the former chairman of Dagenham and Redbridge FC, who passed away last week aged 79, will have his funeral on Wednesday 21st November, at 12.00 noon at the Forest Park Crematorium Hainault, IG6 3HP. All are welcome.

Those with a long-standing interest in our league will undoubtedly remember Dave. As a player, he turned out for Walthamstow Avenue, winning the FA Amateur Cup in 1960 before moving to Leytonstone, who won our League title in 1965/66. He then picked up the Amateur Cup once more in 1968, and also played five times for the England Amateur side.

Leytonstone later merged with Ilford, then with Walthamstow Avenue, then with Dagenham, becoming Dagenham and Redbridge. Dave continued to serve the club, as both Chairman and President.

The Bostik League would like to send condolences to Dave's family and friends, and to all at Dagenham & Redbridge.
