FA Cup First Round draw made!

By Ian Townsend

Swifts head to Devon as Jody Brown's side draw League Two Exeter City- and there may be an all-Bostik clash of the titans!

Four of our Bostik League sides went into tonight's FA Cup First Round draw with high hopes- although, of course, two of them face replays on Tuesday night before they can reach the promised land. Here's the news they've all been waiting for!

Heybridge Swifts, who have only lost one match all season and in the 4th Qualifying Round on Saturday travelled to Haringey Borough and came away with a 4-2 victory, will head west to take on Paul Tisdale's Exeter City at St James' Park. The Grecians currently sit in second place in League Two and have lost only two matches this season.

This will be the fourth time that Swifts have played in the First Round, but they've never progressed further. Perhaps this might be their year?

Leatherhead's cup pedigree will be familiar to all Tanners supporters and indeed any football fan of a certain age. In 1974/75 they made it all the way to the Fourth Round, when, having already knocked out Colchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion, they led Leicester City 2-0 at Filbert Street (City's ground before the construction of the King Power Stadium) before eventually falling to a 3-2 defeat. They last reached the First Round in 2006/07, losing to Torquay United.

Sammy Moore's side, who beat Premier Division rivals Margate on Saturday, have been rewarded with a home tie against either Premier Division rivals Billericay Town, or Brackley Town- two sides who shared six goals between them on Saturday. The replay is on Tuesday night at the AGP Arena.

Enfield Town came within a hairs-breadth of winning their 4th Qualifying Round at National League Maidstone United on Saturday, being pinned back by a stoppage time equaliser. If they can beat the Stones on Tuesday night they have a First Round tie at Cheltenham Town to look forward to (and, about a ten minute walk away, some of the best fish and chips in the country!).

Ties will take place between 3rd and 6th November 2017.
