Record crowd at titanic title battle

Havant & Waterloovile and Bognor Regis Town set a new record attendance for the 2016-17 season when the Ryman Premier title rivals met on Easter Monday.

A whopping 3,455 fans at Westleigh Park, pictured, saw the Hawks emerge as 1-0 winners to leapfrog above the Rocks into top spot with just one game to go, the gate smashing the 2,805 record attendance Dulwich Hamlet set when they hosted Billericay Town at Champion Hill on Saturday 25 March.

The record-breaking gate was only discovered on Tuesday morning following a final tallying up of gates figures and monies by the delighted Hawks, now two points clear at the top of the table in their bid for an immediate return to National League South.

Bognor Regis Town host the Metropolitan Police on Saturday while Havant & Waterlooville travel to Kingstonian on the last day of the campaign.
