Rooks still rule the roost- but fall to defeat

By Ian Townsend

Only two sides remain unbeaten in the entire Bostik League. A round up of Wednesday's results.

Only AFC Hornchurch and Haringey Borough remain unbeaten in the entire Bostik League, as last night the Rooks of Lewes fell to their first defeat, losing at the Dripping Pan to Corinthian-Casuals. Lewes, who remain at the top of the Bostik South Division, three points clear of Sitingbourne- although their rivals have a game in hand and superior goal difference- dominated the first half but then went off the boil in the second, and Casuals took full advantage, Gabriel Odunaike firing home with two minutes remaining to send his side up into fourth place.

In the South Divisions other fixture, Thamesmead Town defeated Herne Bay 2-1 with a last-gasp goal from Richard Avery. Mead now sit twelfth, a point and a place behind Bay.

In the North Division, Grays Athletic followed up their 5-0 hammering of Ware with a much tighter victory, 1-0 over fifth place Bowers & Pitsea. Grays climb to eighteenth.
