Potters Bar hit the heights, Haringey Borough pick up their first ever win at Step 3, and Wanderers start their Meadowbank tenure with three points

In our supporters’ survey, published last week, newly promoted Potters Bar Town were predicted to struggle. So far, however, it would seem that they didn’t read the memo, as they are one of only three sides to so far record maximum points, and sit proudly on top of the league after defeating highly-fancied Kingstonian 3-0 at the Pakex.

Bar took the lead through Keegan Cole in the 26th minute, before the prolific Eoin Casey doubled the tally six minutes later. Despite the K’s best efforts the next goal also went to Bar, George Nicholas making the points safe twelve minutes from time. So that’s Burgess Hill Town seen off, Kingstonian put to the sword, and Whitehawk up next. The Hawks, incidentally, would go top themselves with a two goal victory over Leatherhead at Fetcham Grove tonight.

Enfield Town are up to second, following up their win at Folkestone Invicta at the weekend with a 2-1 defeat of Bishop’s Stortford. Sam Chaney and Sam Youngs put the Towners two up within 26 minutes, and Lewis Dark’s late effort proved no more than a consolation. Worthing dropped to third, with AFC Hornchurch in fourth after a 1-1 draw at Wingate & Finchley; a match in which George Purcell gave the Urchins the lead only for Marc Charles-Smith to equalise. Tonbridge Angels are fifth, but were held to a 0-0 draw by Lewes.

The next three sides match Hornchurch and Angels on four points, and each followed up a draw at the weekend with victory last night. Bognor Regis Town played their first Bostik League match at Nyewood Lane after a year away, and despite going behind to Merstham- former Lewes man Gus Sow with the goal- had three of their own by half time, through Bradley Lethbridge, Chad Field and Dan Smith, and held out to record a 3-1 victory. Haringey Borough travelled to Brightlingsea Regent, and goals from Joel Nouble and Chinedu McKenzie earned the points, whilst Dorking Wanderers played their first ever competitive match at Meadowbank and saw goals from Tom Richards and Jason Prior give them victory.

Folkestone Invicta are up to tenth, bouncing back from defeat on Saturday to win 3-1 at Corinthian-Casuals. Kieron McCann and Johan Ter Horst gave them an early lead, and although Hamilton Antonio quickly reduced the arrears McCann was able to secure the points in the second half.

Finally, Harlow Town and Burgess Hill Town earned a point each. Hill took the lead through Connor Tighe, but the Hawks equalised with twenty minutes to go, JJ Da Cruz, newly arrived from Barking, marking his debut with a goal.
