Wanderers announce 'One Mile Club'

Dorking to offer significant discounts to locals visiting Meadowbank

With the first game at Dorking’s new Meadowbank stadium less than three weeks away, Dorking Wanderers have announced a special welcome for people living within one mile of the ground.
Local residents will automatically be given membership of a new One Mile Club offering reduced price admission for Wanderers’ home fixtures and discount on food and drink available seven days a week at the venue.

“There’s no doubt Meadowbank is going to bring large numbers of people into the town centre, but we’re also focussing on the people who already live within a short walk of the park,” explained Development Director Kris Lea, who came up with the idea of the One Mile Club.

“The stadium is a full time new destination for Dorking. It's not just about match days - we want local people to know they're welcome to make use of Meadowbank, including our clubhouse, lounge, bar and catering, seven days a week. The One Mile Club is our way of prioritising local residents.”

Starting on Monday, Dorking Wanderers will be delivering One Mile Club membership cards to more than 3,000 households within a mile of the stadium. The cards include half price admission to all seven home matches in April and twenty per cent discount at The Healthy Kitchen, a new eatery and takeaway service to be announced next week for the Dorking Wanderers lounge and bar, serving healthy options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“Talking to people who were here in 1953, when the original Meadowbank football ground was built, it’s clear it was the pride of the town and very much at the heart of the community,” Kris continued.

“We know that Dorking is going to be equally proud of this new modern stadium, and we’re determined that it will be just as much a community venue. The One Mile Club is a part of that, and we’ll be expanding the idea as time goes by.”

The announcement of the One Mile Club follows last week’s announcement of a free public Open Day on 19th March, with local residents and the wider general public invited to turn up and get their first look at the £8million state-of-the-art stadium at 7pm.

The opening game at Meadowbank, a league derby with Leatherhead, is on Tuesday 27th March with limited remaining tickets on sale via dorkingwanderers.com.
