Non League Day- North, South Central and South East activities

By Ian Townsend

What are our clubs doing to celebrate Non League Day? Here are the North, South Central and South East festivities.

Non League Day often finds our clubs pushing the boat out to attract those new supporters, and Saturday is no exception! Here’s what our North, South Central and South East Division clubs are up to:

Brentwood Town: The Blues are vastly reducing the price of their bottled beer for the occasion, and whilst King Arthur may be unable to shift that sword from it’s stone, he will be able to provide you with a free raffle ticket which you can use to win a signed shirt! Marlow are the visitors in the FA Trophy.

Cheshunt: The Ambers face Tooting & Mitcham United, and it’s ‘Pay What You Want’ day! Given their form recently you could probably pay twenty pounds and still get value for money, but they are only asking for a minimum of one pound (so technically it’s ‘Pay What You Want but make sure it’s a least a quid’ day.) Victory will take them into second place.

Dereham Town: The Magpies take on Kempston Rovers, and have a very family-focused day in prospect. The first 100 under 16’s get a free gift, they can have their face painted, and they get to take part in free games, which we’re sure is rather unfair to us old timers! And if you bring a flag, banner or poster in support of the home side you’ll get a free hot dog or burger (that one isn’t age related, so the more venerable are allowed to stuff their faces). There’s a pre-match band, too.

Felixstowe & Walton United: The Seasiders are another allowing you to ‘Pay What You Want’- and they also celebrate the launch of their new lager, the opening of their new stand, and host a collection for Prostate Cancer UK (as well as giving the charity the profits from their 50/50 draw). AFC Sudbury are the visitors.

Grays Athletic: Athletic host Sevenoaks Town in the FA Trophy – and are once again celebrating youth. Their Under 11’s will be celebrating being the mascots, training on the pitch before the main event and also leading out the first team for the match. They will also be having a raffle, a tombola stall along with a bucket collection for charity.

Heybridge Swifts: Julian Dicks celebrates his first home match in charge by reducing ticket prices for the clash with Bury Town. Adults will get in for a fiver, concessions for three quid, and under 16’s for nothing!

Have a marvellous Non League Day!

By the way, if your team isn't mentioned here, it may not be because they've no plans, but because they've not told us about them!
