Adeniyi commits to next campaign

Carshalton Athletic boss Peter Adeniyi is looking forward to picking up where he left off next season in the race for promotion to the Ryman League's top flight.

The Robins player-manager, pictured, has told fans at Colston Avenue he is "quietly confident" of going one better in his second year in management after missing out on reaching the Ryman South promotion play-offs by a single point.

After being told on Tuesday by chairman Paul Dipre to carry on for next season, the 37-year-old midfielder told the club's website: "Despite the disappointment of missing out on the play-offs, I've really enjoyed my first experience of management.

"It's been a privilege to work with an exciting group of young players and they deserve all the credit for taking our season right up to the final game. I've got the full support from both the board and all the staff so, all in all, it was an easy decision to continue this adventure."

The former Dulwich Hamlet, Merstham, Eastleigh, Erith Town, Lewes, Beckenham Town and Bromley star is also looking forward to building on his positive relationship with supporters at the Surrey club when the new season kicks off on Saturday 12 August.

He added: "The fans have been so supportive, even their criticism has been constructive, and I hope they continue to encourage our young players and keep Colston Avenue rocking next season. I love coming in to work at Carshalton and I'm quietly confident we can go one step further next season if we all stick together."

Adeniyi has already begun shaping his squad for next season's assault on Ryman South following last week's arrival of 16 goal Chipstead attacker Raheem Sterling-Parker. Top scorer Tommy Bradford, with 31 goals last season, and regular captain Bobby Price, have also committed to the 2017-18 campaign.
