betting.net Performance of the Month Award- February 2018

Here are the results of the Bostik jury...

There were a number of notable performances across our three divisions during February, but the Bostik jury has voted, and here are the betting.net Performance of the Month winners for February.

Premier Division: Leiston

On 17th February Leiston became only the second club to defeat league leaders Billericay Town in the league this season- the first since the opening day- and they did it in some style, coming from behind to score three goals. When Adam Cunnington put Billericay ahead in the eighth minute it looked like we should expect the usual outcome, but in the battle of the Glenn’s it was Driver who was soon in the driving seat, Joe Jefford equalising for Leiston just before half time before Darren Mills put them ahead. Chris Henderson made it three with just under a quarter of an hour remaining, and in truth the gap could have been wider as the Suffolk Blues dominated the closing stages. Congratulations to all at Victory Road.

North Division: Heybridge Swifts

On Tuesday 20th February Heybridge Swifts hosted Romford, and given they'd beaten their visitors 5-1 in the corresponding away fixture must have gone into the match with some confidence. They probably didn't, however, expect to win 9-1.

Swifts were swiftly (sorry) out of the blocks, and there were only three minutes on the clock when Luke Callander put them ahead. By the time the interval arrived the gap was seven- Joan Luque, Harrison Chatting (two), Ryan Henshaw and Kreshnic Krasniqi (two) creating an unlikely scoreline. Romford were next to score, a Ben Clarke effort in the 74th minute not really giving the tally any respectability, but Swifts still weren’t done, Henshaw with his second and James Baker making the scoreline one more suitable to a game of rugby than to football.

Congratulations to Jody Brown and all at Scraley Road.

South Division: Ashford United

Last weekend the Nuts and Bolts faced high flying Cray Wanderers with a new strikeforce, but also- undoubtedly- with memories of their 9-1 thrashing against the same opponents only a month previously playing on their minds. Ninety minutes later those bad memories were banished, as two goals from debutant Daniel Ajakaiye gave them a magnificent 2-1 victory.

Congratulations to all at Homelands!
