After serving as assistant manager to owner and manager Glenn Tamplin last week when the Blues hosted Burgess Hill Town at New Lodge, pictured, The Only Way is Essex star and runner-up on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! is reported to be considering taking a 20 per cent stake in the Ryman Premier club.
Following a report in The Sun newspaper on Monday, Billericay Town chairman Dan Groves later told the BBC "there is truth" in reports that the 30-year-old television personality is set to invest and that the "finer points" of a deal are yet to be released.
A long-time friend of Tamplin's, former England C star Wright is no stranger to the Non-League game having turned out for Grays, St Albans, Heybridge and Thurrock before finding fame on The Only Way Is Essex. He is married to actress Michelle Keegan and also works as a presenter.
If he does take a stake he will not be the only big name on show at the Ryman Premier club in their bid to make the end of season promotion play-offs after Tamplin lured former England defender Paul Konchesky from League One Gillingham earlier this month.
Tamplin has already spoken of his ‘excitement’ at the chance to manage the club after Craig Edwards stepped aside and after failing to take over Dagenham & Redbridge last summer, the businessman has instead vowed to take the Blues to the National League.
